ENGINEERING big 12 big q
Together with the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC, O’Neill has worked since 2009 as part of the host committee to the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship in Kansas City. O’Neill has built and activated a variety of creative enhancements around the Sprint Center and in the adjacent KC Live Block to engage and entertain the thousands of locals and out-of-towners who each year flock to the games.
O’Neill manages corporate partner hospitality for ESPN during the Big 12 Championship, which includes a catered VIP dinner for four nights, ranging in attendance from 200 - 600 guests. O’Neill manages a full build-out of the VIP space, turning an empty parking lot or city street into an active hospitality area.
O’Neill also created, manages and runs the Big 12 Big Q for ESPN, a BBQ competition featuring contestants from all Big 12 universities in a Kansas City Barbeque Society style cook-off event. The three-day cook-off features tastings, certified BBQ judges and competition turn-in, as well as entertainment, food, beverages and more in the heart of the Big 12 Championship at Sprint Center.
